U.S. Markets: Tech Leads, Consumer Lags

The Morningstar US Market Index gained 1.65% last week, with technology (+3.13%) and communication services (+2.84%) leading the sectors. Consumer sectors, however, showed weakness, with consumer discretionary down 0.7% and consumer staples flat.

The S&P 500 closed at 5,939.30, the Nasdaq at 19,298.45, and the Dow at 42,319.74. The Russell 2000 gained 1.5% for the week, while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 posted modest weekly gains of 1% and 1.1%, respectively.
